Norei Suda solo exhibition「189」

When a person carrying emotional wounds tries to help others, there is a danger that not only good intentions but also projection, self-redemption, and dependence will creep in.

Is using one’s own painful experiences for the sake of someone else truly an act of saving that person? Or is one simply needing the other person to give meaning to one’s own wounds?

The wounds one has experienced can serve as a window through which to understand others, but they can also become a mirror in which one projects oneself onto others.

This exhibition neither affirms goodwill as something purely positive nor dismisses it as mere ego; rather, it examines the ambiguity of the act of “helping,” in which both elements are intertwined.

Exploring the boundaries between salvation and codependency, empathy and projection, and self-salvation and the salvation of others, it depicts the psychology and potential of how people carrying their own wounds engage with others.
